Movement

After WWI, the British War Office decided to develop the first general-purpose wristwatch for the Army. These would replace the various pocket watches, and homemade trench watches most soldiers were using. Our ATP is based on the original Army Trade Pattern watches, first issued to soldiers in 1938. 

This year's batch is available in automatic and hand-wound and limited to 50 of each.

Army Trade Pattern

Timekeeping has long been of vital importance to the military. That is why the British War Office decided to develop the first general-purpose military wristwatch. These would replace the various pocket watches, and homemade trench watches most soldiers used. They asked the best watch companies of the day to manufacture them under the Army Trade Pattern. The first watches were issued in 1939, just in time for the outbreak of World War II. Only six years later, ATP watches were replaced by the Wrist, Watch, Waterproof. However, due to its popularity, the ATP remained in service until 1957.
